Abstract

Tissue and Eye Services TES is a specialist function within the diagnostics and therapeutic services directorate of National Health Service Blood and Transplant NHSBT. Blood is collected from the patient themselves or a volunteer donor into a dry collection pack a pack that contains no anticoagulant, and the serum is separated and diluted in a 1 to 1 ratio with sterile saline. This processing is accomplished in a closed system using sterile connecting devices. Following processing, the diluted serum must be dispensed into individual containers, containing 1 days supply of eyedrops before being sent to the patient. The containers must be kept frozen until the day of use, when the patient will thaw the serum and administer drops throughout the day as required. This tender is for a dispensing system that can be connected to the bag of diluted serum using a sterile connection.
