Abstract

The National Botanic Garden of Wales has areas of woodland that are particularly badly affected by rapid progression of ash die back, in areas currently under restoration under the Middleton; Paradise Regained, Reclaiming a Regency Rarity Project. In order to protect the restoration area and to allow opening up to the public a number of areas need immediate attention. Relevant licences have been obtained from NRW (dormouse and badger), and the work must be completed the end of November, with additionally certain areas needing completion before October 31st to comply with licence conditions.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

Contractors must be able to evidence

1. Working under European Protected Species licence, including Dormouse and Badger

2. Working in a sensitive archaeological and historic environment .

Additionally, organisations who respond to the tender will be expected to work cooperatively with appointed contractors carrying out restoration work, work to instructions from appointed ecologists and archaeologists where appropriate. Organisations who respond must also understand that the Garden is a public attraction, and has a working farm with livestock. However work areas are closed to the public..
