The project scope includes for the necessary refurbishment works within Talbot Building, Swansea University, Singleton Campus to house the new Centre for Creative Ageing (CCA) – which will provide a centre of excellence for research and training in the study of ageing; initiating, coordinating and supporting ageing research within Swansea University, fostering collaboration between researchers in Swansea and those further afield (nationally and internationally). The CCA will provide a bespoke ‘Living Lab’ in which it will apply consumer-centred systems thinking to understand the challenges and opportunities of longevity and emerging generational lifestyles to catalyse research and innovation across the creative industries. This living lab will place older people at the centre of innovation, identifying needs and testing prototype products, experiences or services. The new industry-facing research infrastructure will considerably enhance regional capacity for servicing substantive funding for collaborative research. The works are situated within the Talbot Building Singleton Park Campus; and comprise the refurbishment of effectively three main spaces/areas located on the *2nd and 3rd floor of the building;- - 2nd floor link corridor / reception (Room 294) - 2nd floor main ‘lab’ (Room 267) - 3rd floor social space (+tearoom / acoustic room) and balcony in main lab (Rooms 316 & 317 and Balcony 103) (although the drawings refer to Ground and First – purely as a project naming strategy). Further information is available within the tender documents.
