Abstract
Flintshire County Council is seeks to procure the services of a provider to deliver support to young carers living in Flintshire.
The service delivered will provide a range of support for young carers, up to the age of 25 living in Flintshire, who are caring for a loved one at home. It will be expected that support will be delivered in a manner that promotes independence and progression, maximises well-being outcomes and is delivered in accordance with the ethos of relevant contemporary legislation, such as the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
The service will be expected to provide information, advice and assistance to young carers, including young carers assessments, skills building and social opportunities in a friendly and age appropriate environment where young carers can increase their self-esteem and build resilience to maximise their health, well-being and educational aspirations. The service will facilitate opportunities for young carers to meet other young carers for peer support and to build friendships as well as foster relationships and links within local communities.
It is proposed that the service will deliver the young carers ID card in Flintshire, which will comply with local and national directives and aims to be a key tool for young carers in being recognising and receiving appropriate support in key settings such as primary care, education and the local community.
There is also an expectation that the support services will be delivered with a strong collaborative ethos by working with key stakeholders in order to deliver the right support for young carers.
