Abstract
Bron Afon is seeking a suitably experienced Principal Contractor to undertake the replacement of a gabion basket retaining wall with new concrete foundation and gabion baskets. The wall withholds the river bank of the Afon Llwyd.
The successful contractor will be expected to clear the vegetation inside the working area which may include the removal of Japanese knotweed. Waste consignment notes are to be provided to the Contract Administrator. Following this the existing concrete plinths need to be broken up and disposed off site along with the existing gabion baskets. Existing stone can be set aside for reuse where it is not contaminated. A new concrete foundation, gabion basket and plinth need to be installed in line with the structural engineers drawings. The handrails are to be prepared and redecoration or new galvanised railing are to be installed. This will be confirmed during the mobilisation phase.

Total quantity or scope of tender
Contractors bidding for this work must be able to commence work on site in October 2020 and be completed and invoiced by February 2021. A period of 12 weeks has been allocated to deliver this project. These timescales are subject to obtaining successful permits to work from Natural Resource Wales. The Principle Contractor is expected to provide the necessary information to help gain these permits to work i.e. dam/scaffold designs.
The tender will be awarded to the Most Economically Advantageous Tender.
The contract will be undertaken using the JCT Minor Work Building Contract 2016 including Bron Afon’s standard prelims and amendments.

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations. The Community Benefits included in this contract are:
Bron Afon is committed to contributing to the social, economic and environmental well-being of the wider community. Consequently Community Benefits clauses will be a mandatory contract clause. Therefore, as a minimum requirement, Tenderers will have to agree that community benefits will become part of the contract and as such, a minimum 1% cash donation will be required.
