Abstract

Services will cover the following:

The below scope is applicable to both the Port and Stbd Azimuth Thrusters:

-Strip down and inspection of thruster according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

-All bearings and seals to be replaced.

-Full-service report to be provided, including measurements & photographs.

-Assembly using manufacturers torques, pressures and settings.

-Allow Class Surveyor (Lloyds Register) access to survey each thruster.

-The Supplier will remove four steering electric motors and gearboxes as soon as possible; to allow adequate time for the overhaul of the electric motors.

-Supplier to provide a service engineer to upgrade the Steering System Converters, and to upgrade the Aquapilot control system. Work to include a full testing/commissioning program. OWNER will supply all parts for the converter and controller upgrades, these were purchased from the OEM in November’2020

-Supplier to provide a service engineer to remove the Vulcan coupling, both thruster and electric drive motor ends to enable bearing replacement. OWNER will supply new inserts and bolts for the SUPPLIER to reassemble on completion of thruster and motor overhauls. Reference drawing of Vulcan coupling

The below scope is applicable to both the Fwd and Aft Tunnel Thrusters:

-Strip down and inspection of thruster according to manufacturer’s recommendations.

-All bearings and seals to be replaced.

-Full-service report to be provided, including measurements & photographs.

-Assembly using manufacturers torques, pressures and settings.

-Allow Class Surveyor (Lloyds Register) access to survey each thruster.

-Installation of new design Input shaft seal housing. Supervise the YARD installation of the new seal tank and connecting pipework.

-Remove coupling, both on the thruster and drive motor side and replace the four O-Rings per coupling. OWNER to be invited to witness the removal of the couplings.

Note the YARD will be exchanging the Tunnel Thruster Drive Motor’s during this period. The Electric Motor will remain in place so there will be conflicting works. Please allow for this during the costing. The removal of the coupling will allow bearing exchange of the motor Drive End.

-Supplier to clarify if tunnel hub has to be lowered for this work.

The four Planetary Gears are to be part exchanged, the Supplier to send overhauled units to the YARD prior to the start of the drydock. The OWNER will return the removed units to the Supplier within an agreed timeframe. The supplied gearboxes shall have 1 year warranty. The overhauled gearboxes should have had as a minimum: all bearings exchanged, all new seals, all gear teeth wear and tear to be adequate for another 60,000 running hours or 15 years whichever is the greater.

If part exchange units are not available, then the Supplier to offer an alternative cost-effective solution.

The vessel should enter the dry dock as early as possible on Monday 31/01/2022. It should be planned for the Azimuth thruster service engineers to arrive this day to commence work on the thrusters on Tuesday 01/02/2022

The vessel should aim to leave dry dock on Monday 21/02/2022. The vessel will remain in a layby berth where any final work can be completed prior to sea trials scheduled for on Friday 25/02/2022

As part of the tender exercise the SUPPLIER should submit a basic schedule detailing a proposal of how the required work on all four thrusters will be planned to fit within the given timeframe.

Currently the location of the drydock is unknown. The vessel will arrive at the designated dry dock over the weekend prior to the scheduled docking.
