Abstract

To facilitate delivery of its sustainability agenda, the Trust requires a Supplier to provide a 5MVA electrical connection to the Queen's Medical Centre. This includes laying approximately 4km of High Voltage cable within the Public Highway. This 5MVA supply will enable the unrestricted operation of the existing in situ heat pumps alongside the commissioning and partial operation of infrastructure that is required as part of the Trusts ongoing decarbonisation schemes.Without the 5MVA supply, then the Trust will not be able to deliver a proportion of the relevant schemes. The estimated value of the contract consists of £700k of contestable works. The Trust has directly appointed National Grid Electricity Distribution (East Midlands) PLC to undertake this work. Whilst some of the contestable works could have been carried out by an Independent Connection Provider (ICP), the Trust does not possess the relevant expertise necessary to manage an ICP working within the public highway, for example. By directly appointing National Grid Electricity Distribution (East Midlands) PLC as the end-to-end supplier they will be responsible carrying out the full package of works consisting of all the offsite works that will take place associated with both the non-contestable (approximately £100k-120k in addition to values quoted elsewhere on this notice) and contestable elements. It is therefore envisaged this will mitigate risks to the Trust in regard to extended program length and any potential delays.

Procurement description

To facilitate delivery of its sustainability agenda, the Trust requires a Supplier to provide a 5MVA electrical connection to the Queen's Medical Centre. This includes laying approximately 4km of High Voltage cable within the Public Highway.

This 5MVA supply will enable the unrestricted operation of the existing in situ heat pumps alongside the commissioning and partial operation of infrastructure that is required as part of the Trusts ongoing decarbonisation schemes.

Without the 5MVA supply, then the Trust will not be able to deliver a proportion of the relevant schemes.
