Title

Replacment and Installation of New Chiller Unit to Sherman Theatre Air Handling System

Description of the goods or services required

Sherman Theatre is looking for a suitably qualified contractor to replace a failed chiller unit, situated in the theatre’s roof compound and forming a core part of the building’s Air Handling System.

Included as part of the tender is:

• the decommissioning, removal and disposal of the existing unit

• siting of new unit (piping to the existing cooling pipework in the building, supplying Air Handling Unit one and two, and connecting / commissioning).

• Provision of BMS engineer to test the operation of the cooling system and setting up the temperature control of the existing buffer vessel in the roof plant room.

• Due to the location of the chiller unit the contractor will be required to supply and operate the specialist equipment needed for access and completion of work.

The initial contract is offered for a contract period determined by the timeframe of completion of the project but with an absolute cutoff date for completion of Monday 8th February 2027.

Total quantity or scope of tender

This is a specialist project that requires the decommissioning of the existing chiller unit, removal from site and disposal, plus the installation and commissioning of a new unit.

Sherman Theatre would like all tendering companies to detail the full extent of the services they can offer as well as evidence of their expertise and experience in completing similar projects.

Plans of the layout of the roof spaces are available on request, but contractors are advised that in order to fully measure the scope and extent of the work involved they will need to make their own visit to the site.

It is for the contractor to specify within their tender the proposed timescale for the completion of these activities.

3 Conditions for Participation

3.1

Minimum standards and qualification required

• Contractor will be a member of an Industry Lead body and will provide services to Best Value Industry Standard.

• Conformance to all UK and Wales Health and Safety Legislation and conformance to all relevant regulations.

• Provision of first class waste disposal and installation services as outlined in 3.1 above with evidence that all due consideration will be given to the care of the building and protection of its assets for future sustainability.

• Attention to detail and a pride in achieving high standards.

• Flexible and easily obtainable for trouble-shooting support

• Provide good communication channels with Sherman Theatre staff.

The tendering process will close at midday on Monday 19th October 2026 Tenders issued in response to this ITT will be opened and evaluated in the following week.

Queries from tendering companies will be taken via email to the Kevin Burt (contact details in section 11) and questions and answers will be supplied to all bidders.

All tendering companies should make plans to undertake relevant pre-tender site visits during the period week commencing 5th October 2026.

Sherman Theatre will notify the preferred contractor of the selection decision no later than Wednesday 21st October 2026 to enable implementation to commence on or around Monday 11th January 2026 (with all works to be completed by Monday 8th February 2027 at the latest).
