Description of the goods or services required

Conwy County Borough Archives Services is seeking a suitably qualified supplier to move the heritage collections (archive and museum) of Conwy County Borough Council from their current premises at Conwy Archive Service, The Old Board School, Lloyd Street, Llandudno, LL30 2YG to the Conwy Culture Centre, Town Ditch Road, Conwy, LL32 3NU.

Total quantity or scope of tender

Collections to be moved:

• Archives - 4,426 (approx.) standard archive boxes (100x310x408mm) (suitable for one person handling)

• Archives - 2,538 (approx.) non-standard archive containers. These vary from being outsize boxes to being smaller items that are not suitable for boxing but that are all wrapped suitably for transport in strong archival paper and tape (suitable for one person handling).

• Archives – 59 large boxes containing volumes of newspapers (70x740x530mm) (heavy and requiring two person handling.)

• Archives – 3 plan chests (1380x1020x430mm) to be moved with contents (heavy and requiring two person handling.)

• Archive library books – 57 approx. linear metres of shelved non heritage collection books which the supplier would need to crate.

• Museums – 65 (approx.) standard museum boxes (310x410x103mm) (suitable for one person handling).

• Museums – 90 approx. non-standard boxes and approx. 20 medium sized artefacts (suitable for one person handling).

• Museums – 19 outsize artefacts and 40 paintings. Further details of these items are in section 5 (around 2/3 of these are heavy and requiring two person handling.)

Ans.We would be happy for standard archive boxes to be stacked up to 9 high – this would not apply to non-boxed, wrapped items or museum collections.
