Abstract

An opportunity for freelancers to apply for funding to create unique works based on film and sound interviews from Cardiff's historic Tiger Bay area. The purpose of this call is to enable freelancers to create new works, using sound files from the collection as inspiration, and demonstrating the importance of Sound Archives. Aims: - To encourage people to use sound archives – whether physically, or via digital services. - To create unique works, by using sound files from the collection demonstrating the importance of sound archives - To inspire other archives to get creative with sound items Tasks: This is an opportunity for freelancers to: - Create new works based on film and sound interviews from Cardiff's historic Tiger Bay area - Research and select items from the Tiger Bay oral history interviews - Select extracts from, and edit the two Tiger Bay and The Rainbow Club films - Select interviews as voice over to the edited version of the film - Create sub-titles for the new film in English and Welsh (additional funding available for translation work) - Produce general guidance notes to feature in exhibitions, standalone events for special interest groups, or learning events - Audio and video files will be provided The purpose of the final film will be: - A heritage resource for Education - Public and group screenings - Resource for future Exhibitions

•Freelance work over a period of five months, for a total fee of £5,000 to include all taxes

•Applications can be made individually, in pairs or as a group

•Funding support will be provided for translation and design work
