II.2.4) Description of the procurement
Bron Afon Community Housing Ltd (Bron Afon) are seeking to appoint a contractor to supply, install and inspect circa eight-hundred (800) fire door sets in fifteen (15) retirement schemes across Torfaen.
The contract will include the removal and disposal of the existing door sets and will focus on all doors that open into the communal hallways i.e. cross corridor doors, communal kitchens, communal laundry rooms, electrical cupboards, bin stores, storage cupboards and flat entrance doors.
The contract will also include disposal of a small number of existing door sets and installation of non-fire door sets in areas where fire rated doors are not required e.g. communal bathrooms/WC’s.
Bron Afon require three (3) schemes to be completed prior to the 31st March 2020 which equates to approximately one-hundred-and-eighty (180) door sets.

Tendering Organisations must hold a valid (in date) Accreditation under the FIRAS Scheme or equivalent for the maintenance of passive fire protection timber doors and associated components.
For the avoidance of doubt in the case of an accreditation equivalent to that which is stated it will be for the Tendering Organisation to provide evidence to Bron Afon’s satisfaction that the qualification or accreditation held by the Tendering Organisation is equivalent to that which is stated.
