As part of the EPSRC funded National Nuclear User Facility (NNUF) 2a round, the Bangor University Fuel Fabrication Facility was funded to support active fuel work in the UK, assessing the implications of sintering atmosphere and condition on final products that include nuclear fuels (oxides and non-oxides), fusion materials and aerospace materials and to provide data for forensics signature development. The furnace will take centre stage in the facility being able to assess the performance of materials in-situ during extreme sintering, including pure H2 beyond temperatures of 1600C.
