Abstract

Bangor University are seeking to purchase a microplastics analyser to underpin research on the fate and behaviour of microplastic particles in the terrestrial, freshwater and marine environment. This will be used to underpin the Plastic Vectors project funded by the UK Natural Environment Research Council and the PinS project funded by the Global Challenges Research Fund. Both of these projects are involved in recovering microplastic particles from environmental a range of environmental matrices and characterising their abundance, size, composition and shape. The outputs of this research will be published in peer reviewed international journals and at national and international conferences. It will also form part of the flagship equipment to be placed in newly established Plastic Research Centre of Wales (PRC Wales) located at Bangor University.
