Description of the goods or services required
The NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership, hosted by Velindre NHS Trust are acting on behalf of the Welsh External Quality Assurance Service (Weqas) within the Cardiff and Vale University Local Health Board who have a requirement for a used Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) system or equivalent design.
The Reference Measurement Laboratory at Weqas develops primary and/or secondary reference methods in order to give stated, traceable, measurand values with known uncertainty in calibrator, QC and EQA material used within Laboratory Medicine. The work is of a highly specialised nature requiring highly trained staff and specialised equipment.
Due to the nature of Reference Measurement Measurements, accurate data is required. Interferences for measurement need to be kept to a minimum therefore some form of reaction cell (He gas) will be required. Expertise with the equipment in question has been gained whilst on site at UHW and methods developed on this instrument. Purchasing of equivalent equipment to locate at Unit 6 is now the preferred option due to laboratory access restrictions at UHW with respect to Covid-19. The equipment provided must be capable of measuring all electrolytes currently measured using FAAS / FAES) within the Weqas Ref Lab scope of accreditation.
The requirement is for an equivalent specification to a used and refurbished Agilent 7700 Series ICP-MS. The system must be no older than 11 years old.
For further details please access the tender documentation on the Bravo Solutions etenderwales portal under the itt_85059 reference.
