Abstract

The Vale of Rheidol Railway is seeking to improve its existing infrastructure which requires the construction of new narrow gauge Heritage Rolling Stock Storage Shed Building measuring 130m long, 11.5m wide with approximate eaves height of 4.25m, the construction will include the building of an atrium entrance hall measuring 12m x 2.25m. This contract is offered as a design and build in conjunction with the railway to ensure proper clearances are observed etc. Building to be of light steel construction from galvanised cold rolled steel except for door frame portal to provide structural support for doors. Main entrance doors to be steel contruction and clad double doors with holding open latches and have minimum opening width of 3.2m wide x 3.7m high. Construction to include ring beam foundation, reinforced slab inside central door with built in inspection pit. Steelwork for inspection pit to be supplied only for installation by client. Final floor finish to have concrete flooded to ring beam/rail height following the installation of trackwork by client. Building to have constructed and insulated partition wall approximately 105m long on 1 road which will be heated via means of air source heat pumps to maintain temperature above dew point to prevent condensation on museum exhibits. Roof to have 45kW Solar PV system covering South West corner of building.
