Abstract

The Partnership proposes to appoint a suitably qualified organisation to provide an ongoing independent evaluation of the Stand For Nature Wales Project. In 2020 the Welsh Wildlife Trusts were awarded £2.5 million to deliver Stand For Nature Wales through the Climate Action Fund. This is the first time that all five local Welsh Trusts along with Wildlife Trusts Wales have established a formal partnership to deliver a project on this scale. The project was publicly launched in April 2021 and is due to end in September 2024, with North Wales Wildlife Trust acting as Lead Partner and majority budget-holder. The project vision (as stated in the original application) is: “A climate- and conservation-conscious Wales, where empowered young people drive changing behaviours.” We aim to achieve a Wales richer in wildlife; where habitats and landscapes capture more greenhouse gases; and where young people (aged 9-24) influence their peers and communities to take positive action to tackle climate change. We are focussing our activities in five contrasting communities throughout Wales, each varying in its awareness of climate change and its predicted effects on the local area and beyond; Anglesey, coastal Ceredigion, North Powys, the South Wales valleys and the neighbouring cities of Newport and Cardiff.

Description of the contract
