Public Health Wales 10-year strategy includes an emphasis on understanding and addressing the wider determinants of health, employment and work is included as one of the key wider determinants of health.

The links between good work i.e. that is fairly paid, stable and meaningful and better health has long been established.However, in recent years, there have been reductions in permanent employment contracts, and increasing short term, part term and more flexible employment arrangements. Global evidence suggests that exposure to these non-permanent employment conditions can have negative impacts on physical health and mental well-being, however there is limited research from Wales and the wider UK.
