Abstract

The defective length of Homeleigh culvert is located within an undeveloped parcel of land bordered by residential properties along its eastern and western flanks. The culvert is located within private land (two separate properties, hence agreement by the property owner may sought. An existing concrete post with timber infill boundary fence is located within the culvert corridor. The existing site comprises a maintained lawn over the culvert, dense vegetation to the west and maintained lawned area to the west. There is no change to the existing culvert arrangement and depth, hence the new culvert will be laid as per the existing, were practicable. Proposed works The works will constrained between Chainage 156.00m and Chainge 210.00m. The works will involve the removal of approx.54m defective existing precast 950mm dia circular concrete pipe culvert and reinstating / replacing with new precast 900mm dia circular concrete pipes. The new culvert run to connect to the existing upstream 2.5m.sqr x 2.5m deep (to invert) manhole/Inspection chamber and conclude / connect to a new manhole/inspection chamber downstream, to be located adjacent to the northern footway along New Bryngwyn Rd. The new chamber will be constructed to accommodate the new culvert run and the non-defective existing concrete pipe culvert which continues beneath New Bryngwyn Road. The new manhole inspection chamber to comprise a Type 4 – Sub-type 4c. Precast Concrete unit elements, invert and specification to be in line with Drawing F6 found within the MCHW Volume 3, Section 1. Connection to the upstream inlet via manhole/ inspection chamber at Chainage 210 to be allowed for by the contractor. The contractor is to provide over surface pumping of culvert water between the upstream source CH210.0m and the down stream outlet at CH 135.5 The appointed contractor or principal contractor will be responsible for all temporary works design including water management and access. The contract is NEC3 Contract.

The works will constrained between Chainage 156.00m and Chainge 210.00m.

Minimum standards and qualification required

In order to be able to undertake construction related work for the Council in the value band below the EU procurement threshold and on this specific project, it will be a mandatory requirement for all suppliers to, hold membership with Constructionline and hold SSIP membership with an Health & Safety Accredited body through an SSIP approved Scheme.

Tenderers must express an interest in this tender by completing the following:
