Description of the contract
Gwynedd Council are looking for a consultant to work with officers to review the authority’s Active Travel Network.
To deliver Active Travel improvements in the area, the local authority aims to;-
• Identify existing active travel networks within selected settlements.
• Identify new active travel facilities that delivers integration between key origins and destinations within the selected settlements.
• Identify possible new routes, which links outlining areas to main settlements.
• Unlock major employment sites with active travel solutions to replace single occupancy car trips for short distance journeys.
• Ensure that schools and other education facilities are fully accessible by active travel modes.
There are a number of expectations and requirements relating to network development, outlined through the available Active Travel delivery guidance. Key within these are:
• Networks of routes that are ambitious, aiming to connect people to all key destinations which must include all current and planned schools.
• Engagement is an essential part of the process for preparing and reviewing Active Travel Network Maps and ideas should be developed collaboratively and in partnership with communities.
