Abstract

To meet the demands of a modern town centre there is a need to assess the current provision of buildings in Wrexham Town Centre, are they appropriate and fit for purpose? There are a number of buildings that have been under-utilised over time and unattractive to the market and require transformation to support a modern, smaller, more focused, high quality core of independent retail surrounded with a zone of flexible spaces that can respond to residential and leisure / hospitality. Wrexham County Borough Council in conjunction with Welsh Government are currently in the process of developing a Business case to demonstrate the need for investment in Town Centre Empty properties. This will address the significant number of empty properties in the Town Centre which are in poor condition or are potentially problematic due to their design and past use, which presents challenges in terms of the negative impact in our key strategic locations, acting as a barrier to stimulate other investment. Please see ITT for full description.
