The Health Board historically purchased their scopes which are now in need or major repair or replacement.
Swansea Bay Health Board currently have a total of 27 Karl Storz ridged Video Rhino-Laryngoscopes (scopes) that are in need of major repairs. The proposal is that Storz will provide a repair by replacement service.
Karl Storz is the supplier of ridged Video Rhino-Laryngoscopes (scopes), which are compatible with Swansea Bay's existing Storz medical equipment.
SBUHB (Swansea Bay University Health Board) are looking to direct award a contract for the repair by replacement service.to enable SBUHB to continue to provide critical care to its patients.

Explanation:
Given the need to address the significant increase in patient waiting lists as a result of the COVID19 pandemic.
SBUHB require major repair to existing Video Rhino-Laryngoscopes.
The Health Board has explored various options this proposed award is a part of arrange of measures being implemented.
Given the urgent need to prioritise patient care and the lack of an existing contract/framework agreement being available,
