Action A.5 Review of Funding
We will be awarding a contract to review current funding arrangements for Natura 2000 management and identify and evaluate potential new funding mechanisms and approaches. The results will contribute to the strategic Programme for Natura 2000 in Wales and contribute to the Prioritised Improvement Plans for individual sites and the thematic actions plans for Wales-wide issues. The aim will be to facilitate better access to funding in the future to enable significant progress to be made to bringing all species and habitat features on Natura 2000 sites into favourable condition.
The objectives are to identify and review funding arrangements and opportunities for actions on Natura 2000 sites in Wales specifically to:
- identify any uncertainties or risks to future funding of suitable management which is currently in place in relation to Natura 2000 sites and features, in the short, medium and long term;
- define the extent to which funding opportunities for potential new mechanisms already exist
- identify possible new funding sources.
The analysis will include both private and public, and domestic and European potential funding streams.
Our intention is to award this contract from 11th August 2014 to 10th December 2014.
These dates are dependent on operational restrictions and requirements
