Disabled Facilities Grant Works

Disabled Facility Grants are a mandatory grant administered by the Grants Department of the Contracting Authority. To do this effectively, the Grants Department have an in-house agency service called Grant Line.

The works to be undertaken will be to provide a contracting service to the Grant Line Home Improvement Agency of Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council. Such works may range from simple building alterations to significant construction works, including the provision of specialist equipment – all of which shall be for the benefit of disabled citizens. Works shall take place in the homes of grant recipients.

The requirement is to establish a framework for Disabled Facilities Grant Works. This will constitute a pool of Contractors that are able to provide the necessary works to an acceptable standard.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The exact number of properties to be refurbished shall be variable. Recent years demand and performance suggest there are likely to be a total of between 65 and 90 Disabled Facilities Grants to be completed each year.The properties are almost always occupied during works, with occupants often categorised as elderly and/or vulnerable.
