The Dell brief Q&As
The Dell brief – Q&As
1. Could you confirm the exact area that is to be restored at the site – the map in Appendix C doesn’t make it that clear,

Please see the additional document that has been attached to the notice, which shows the area in more detail.
2. What is the nature of this area at present – from photographs this appears to be a wooded area with a stream running through it – what type of restoration is required?

It is a wooded area at present, with footpaths, footbridges over the stream and a weir. Restoration required will be based on the consultant’s assessment.
3. How many meetings would you anticipate as part of the project? Would these all need to be on or near site or could some of these be via teleconference/skype?

It depends on how many the appointed consultant thinks would be needed to complete the project. It would be preferable if they happened on or near site.
4. Is there further information associated with Appendix C Management Plan for background information on the objectives, site analysis and history. Appendix C on your brief document just shows a plan showing the area of The Dell - I was wondering if perhaps I am missing a written appendix?

There is no missing information with regards to Appendix C, it is only the plan of the area. A more detailed plan showing the area has been added in the additional documents for this notice. Further information for this old management plan can be made available to the appointed consultant.

Additional Q&As
The Dell Q&As

1. Can you give us a rough idea of the likely budget for capital works, should the project go ahead?

£20k max as a phase one (this doesn’t preclude future works)

2. Would we have to include the commissioning of a topographical survey within our fee costs, or is there one in place already?

There isn’t one - it would need to be included if the proposals suggested it – I would question why it might be needed though.

3. You mention providing material for consultation, is there any requirement to allow for consultation within the 2 month project (in particular for attending events) or is this something which would happen later?

Consultation with key partners and stakeholders would be a key component of the work but public consultation for which some simple materials would be required will take place outside this work, Yes.

4. The timescale is quite tight, can we assume the work would be informed by information in the 1998 Management Plan?

Yes …there is a 2012 Plan also and yes we can provide it.

5. Do you foresee any requirement to include the following sub consultant work

hydrology (re the river, flooding issues etc)
No

conservation architecture / metalwork / stonework - regarding any structures within the site
I think this is quite a large piece of work anyway, I don’t think we need structural surveys of actual structures – but yes it would be worth a close look at the well on site.

6. Is there already contact with the stakeholders referred to (in terms of an existing working relationship)?
Yes - and contacts can be provided

7. It seems from internet search that there is a gardener in post, is this still the case, the gardener is usually a really helpful person to have on board?
Yes there is and it is key that he is involved
