Abstract

The AN2 project supports employers to examine and develop their organisational culture to achieve a more inclusive working environment, which harnesses the skills and abilities of all the talent available to them. To increase our knowledge in this area, Chwarae Teg would like to commission research into men’s perception of gender equality in the Welsh workplace. The work will investigate men’s understanding of, and attitudes towards gender equality in the workplace, and explore workplace culture from their perspectives. The research will focus on three of the nine priority sectors in the Welsh business environment in which women are under-represented in the workforce and at managerial level: Construction, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and Energy and Environment. Any differences between large employers and SMEs should be explored.

Final report section
Question: In relation to the final report section on p.10 you say that you require ‘clear and numeric findings’. Does this imply that you would like a quantitative study or are you open to other designs?

Answer: We do not address particular research design or methods, and we are open to discuss any suggestion.
We are looking for a justified and robust research methodology which aims to reach a representative sample group that shall provide us with a comprehensive picture, and the opportunity to analyse and understand the general tendencies, how and why they evolve and are practiced.
And we are looking for clear and numeric (on relevant areas) expression and presentation of research findings.

PLEASE NOTE: AMENDMENTS TO ITT DOCUMENT
Amendment 1: Value of tender is £22,000 INCLUSIVE of VAT

Amendment 2: Addition to Outcomes section:
Language of the Research:
The final report must be presented in plain English. We do not expect any report bilingually.
However, applicants must demonstrate that they have the ability to use the medium of Welsh in conducting the research. This includes scope to provide written means used in the data collection process (e.g. surveys/ polls etc) bilingually.

Query regarding Primary Research
Q: Are we correct that you are envisaging primary research being conducted as part of this project. And if so – were you envisaging quantitative research (i.e. a survey) or qualitative work or a mix of the two.
A: Yes, we envisage a primary, benchmarking research in this project. We do not raise any interest regarding the research design. We are expecting from the applicants to present a thorough, robust research methodology for conducting this research. The applicants are expected to justify the rationale behind the methods that they have chosen and how these methods will meet the research objectives and questions.
