Abstract

An experienced Company or Consultant is sought to assist the Managing Director and Trustees in undertaking a comprehensive review of our current operations and plans for development, resulting in the preparation of a 3-year Forward Plan. This will include: Reviewing previous papers, policies, annual reports and reviews of the Trust and its services to comprehensively research the work of the Trust to date and to inform recommendations going forward. 2Meeting with staff, Trustees and key stakeholders as identified by the Trust, to obtain and understand their opinions and thoughts about the Trust’s current work and future development. Preparing and presenting an initial Report of recommendations to the Board of Trustees. Incorporating feedback on initial recommendations, to work with the Managing Director and Trustees in preparing a new 3-Year Forward Plan for the organisation.

Description of the goods or services required

An experienced Company or Consultant is sought to assist the Managing Director and Trustees in undertaking a comprehensive review of our current operations and plans for development, resulting in the preparation of a 3-year Forward Plan.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The areas of our work to be reviewed as part of the consultancy will include:

The relationship between MOMA, The Tabernacle and Gŵyl Machynlleth Festival including but not limited to internal operations and staffing and external communications and branding.

Workforce structure, capacity, and areas of responsibility, including both paid staff and volunteers.

Board structure, membership, and areas of expertise.

Physical site layout and future capital development needs, with particular attention to artwork storage and site giftshop, café, and visitor facilities, and to the Glasfryn and Ty Llyfnant buildings.

Operational models for commercial operations including gift shop, venue hire, café, and ticketing.

Public programmes and future programme development across visual art exhibitions, performing art events, annual festival, learning and education and outreach.

Membership structures and fundraising approaches.

Relationship with major donors.

Marketing and communications activity, both online and offline.

Annual budgets including key income sources.

At the end of the project, the consultant is expected to submit a realistic business plan for the Trust that will:

Demonstrate an ability to meet current and predicted costs, including realistic projections for visitor numbers, and earned income.

Help to identify team structure, roles and capacity required to effectively deliver programmes and operations going forward.

Clarify and inform the approach for external communications and branding going forward, considering the different areas of our work.

Identify and map the way forward for commercial, capital and programme development.

Meet Museum Accreditation Standards.

3 Conditions for Participation

Minimum standards and qualification required

An expression of interest, not exceeding 5 pages, must be submitted by the closing date demonstrating and including the prospective consultants:

Approach to address the brief provided.

A current CV or company profile, to include previous relevant experience and examples of previous organisations that you have worked with, the nature of the consultancy that you undertook, and the outcome of the consultancy project.

Location.

A breakdown of your anticipated costs and invoicing schedule.

Additional Information

The maximum fee available (including VAT) is £9,600.

It is anticipated that the project will involve 10-12 days work of research, interviews and review, and 8-10 days work in preparing recommendations and undertaking preparation of the business plan.
