Description of the goods or services required

The Swansea Bay City Deal is a once in a generation transformational plan to deliver growth and jobs across the Swansea Bay City Region (SBCR). The counties of Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire constitute the SBCR forming a diverse geographical and social region with both urban clusters and sparse rural populations.

The City Deal focuses on four key sectors in the region which have significant potential for growth namely; energy, life science and well-being, manufacturing and economic acceleration. Delivered through 9 Projects and Programmes which align to these growth sectors the City Deal is embracing next generation digital technologies to accelerate growth in these sectors. The Digital Infrastructure Programme of the City Deal is working alongside the other Programmes and Projects of the City Deal to harness the transformational power of digital connectivity to accelerate economic growth and prosperity within the SBCR.

The Digital Infrastructure Programme of the Swansea Bay City Deal is a £55 million investment in the Digital Connectivity and associated Telecommunications Infrastructure of the region. This includes but is not limited to full fibre fixed connectivity and associated infrastructure, 4G Advanced, 5G and Internet of Things wireless networks and use cases. It is in essence the deployment of enabling technology that will allow quality digital services to be delivered and accessed over fixed line networks or wireless networks.
