Construction of new Transporter Bridge Visitor Centre

Description of the goods or services required

The project aims are to provide a visitor centre with enough exhibition space to provide a proper interpretation of the Bridge and its historic context. This new centre will offer a full range of visitor amenities in a riverside context with views across the river but focusing on the Transporter Bridge.

Total quantity or scope of tender

The existing visitor centre is to be demolished for the new visitor centre. The key spaces of the visitor centre (such as the reception at ground floor level, main exhibition room on the first floor and café on the top floor) have been developed to offer framed views of the existing transporter bridge from different angles and heights adding new ‘stop’ points to the existing journey in order to better appreciate the bridge.

A new walkway / linking bridge is proposed at second floor level linking the visitor centre directly to the new bridge
