Abstract

Introduction The All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF) for early years and childcare managers is a set of standards derived from the mandatory learning outcomes of the Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management and the Level 5 Leadership and Management of Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development qualifications. The AWIF is a structured framework designed to support the induction of workers new to early years and childcare roles in Wales. It provides a foundation for developing the skills, knowledge, and values needed to deliver high-quality care and support. The AWIF consists of two parts (A&B). This project will focus only on Part A which centres on the knowledge that new workers need to understand before practicing safely and effectively in health and social care settings. It provides a structured approach to learning key concepts, values, and responsibilities required in their role. Background This project will run alongside the pilot programme to support the implementation of the AWIF and conduct discovery work to identify any digital product needs. The pilot involves working with four local authorities to establish standardised approaches for quality assurance (QA) of completed frameworks, identifying best practices and areas for improvement. Alongside this, the discovery phase will assess how pilot areas are currently using the Word document version of the framework and explore whether a digital solution could enhance user engagement and experience, informed by insights from the pilot. If both the pilot and Phase 1 (discovery) confirm the need for a new resource, we will move to commission a Phase 2 – Development. This phase will focus on creating the EYCC AWIF for Managers Workbook. 2.3 What is required / ‘The Requirements’ Phase 1 Discovery Under this contract, we are seeking a suitably skilled and experienced supplier to conduct the first Discovery Phase of this project. The supplier will: - Conduct research to understand and document the specific user needs that the EYCC AWF for Managers Workbook must meet. - Assess the effectiveness of the existing workbook (currently in Word format) is meeting user needs. - Identify any barriers or challenges that may limit its usability or effectiveness. - Identify opportunities for improvement, including the potential development of a digital solution to address unmet needs or overcome identified challenges. - Evaluate how the new EYCC AWF for Workers Workbook (delivered as an e-learning module) meets user needs. - Extract insights that can be applied to the managers’ version to enhance its effectiveness. - Develop prototypes of the revised managers’ workbook. - Conduct user testing to gather feedback and refine the design based on user experience. - Work closely with the Social Care Wales’s Digital & Technology Team to explore the feasibility of different solutions. - Provide recommendations on the most effective format and delivery method for the final product. Description of the contract

Introduction

The All Wales Induction Framework (AWIF) for early years and childcare managers is a set of standards derived from the mandatory learning outcomes of the Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management and the Level 5 Leadership and Management of Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development qualifications.

The AWIF is a structured framework designed to support the induction of workers new to early years and childcare roles in Wales. It provides a foundation for developing the skills, knowledge, and values needed to deliver high-quality care and support.

This project will focus only on Part A which centres on the knowledge that new workers need to understand before practicing safely and effectively in health and social care settings. It provides a structured approach to learning key concepts, values, and responsibilities required in their role.

Background

This project will run alongside the pilot programme to support the implementation of the AWIF and conduct discovery work to identify any digital product needs.
