Abstract

Cardiff University through FLEXIS project is looking for a Consultant to develop a methodology to assess the environmental risks associated with Underground Coal Gasification (UCG) technology. The methodology needs to be generic, recognising that risks must be judged using site-specific information that will be provided by the FLEXIS team in order to demonstrate the applicability of the methodology using actual information from real sites. This will include i) compilation of characteristics of UCG projects and relevant information about the regulations under which UCG projects could be undertaken, ii) development of scenarios to cover all plausible risks associated with UCG, iii) performing of scoping calculations using coupled numerical models in large scale, iv) illustration of the methodology using realistic information about plausible UCG projects (3 in total).
