Abstract

The University is in the process of setting up the Medicines Discovery Institute and has begun refurbishment of chemistry and biology laboratories based on the first floor of the main building, park place, Cardiff. As part of this project there is a requirement for equipment to furnish the new research institute in July 2018 As part of our small molecule drug discovery process, we have a requirement for an Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography system with diode array and interfaced with a mass spectrometer. The system will be used as a routine instrument by a laboratory of 15 chemists for the fast monitoring and analysis of reaction mixtures as well as the purity profiling of small ‘drug-like’ molecules ready for biological testing. We have a requirement for a walk-up open access systems enabling chemists to analyse & reprocess their own samples with easy-to-use software. The system should also have available at all time a selection of columns and methods and able to cope with a high sample throughput.
