The Dental Postgraduate Section of Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW) supports postgraduate education and training for the whole dental workforce in Wales. This includes Dental Foundation, Dental Core and Dental Specialty training for Dentists and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for all members of the dental team as defined by the General Dental Council (GDC) .The Dental Postgraduate Section of Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) are seeking to commission speakers to deliver the education and training across Wales. This procurement is to establish a framework agreement for a pool of speakers to provide postgraduate dental education.

The establishment of this framework agreement to to support the delivery of Postgraduate Dental Education in the following areas;
Dental Foundation Training
The six Dental Foundation Training Schemes based throughout Wales each have structured study day programmes, which are mapped to the Dental Foundation Training Curriculum. It is mandatory for the trainees to attend all of the study days over the 12 months of training in order for them to achieve satisfactory completion of Dental Foundation Training.
Dental Core Training
The four Dental Core Training Schemes based throughout Wales each have structured study day programmes which are mapped to the DCT Curriculum. It is mandatory for the trainees to attend all of the study days over the 12 months of training in order for them to satisfactorily complete Dental Core Training year 1.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
All dental professionals are responsible to ensure their skills and knowledge are up to date and maintained. The General Dental Council (GDC) require all registrants to undertake CPD to maintain their registration. CPD for Dentists and Dental Care Professionals is defined in law as activity which contributes to their professional development and is relevant to their practice.
The CPD courses organised by HEIW Dental Educators throughout Wales include a wide range of topics to help meet the CPD requirements of the dental profession in Wales. All courses must have clear aims and learning outcomes and be mapped to the General Dental Council (GDC) development outcomes.
