Abstract

The work involves working on the open face of the side of the mountain. Access to the footpath will be along the footpath from where it starts by the Toll Gate House. The works involve bridging gaps along two different pinch point areas which have been subjected to erosion on the Great Orme Footpath, Llandudno. Both areas are to be ‘bridged’ by installing precast reinforced concrete pad stones anchored into the existing bed rock. Onto the pad stones a galvanised steel channel frame is to be bolted together and to the pad stones. The frame formed by the channels is to be infilled with reinforced precast concrete lintels laid side by side with a top dressing of limestone chippings. There is a section of timber fence posts and galvanised chain link fencing that is to be replaced. The work involves stripping of the old fence and posts with care and installing new C70 grade, 100mm square timber posts and strainer posts, 4nr galvanised line wires and galvanised chain-link fencing. There is some very old redundant metal posts set in concrete and some rusted chain link fencing from approximately 40 years ago on a formed collapsed footpath that is to be carefully stripped out and removed to tip off site. There is a gap between the end of a fence line and a handrail to a section of the mountain side that has rambling rock and boulders. This gap is to be fenced off with timber posts, handrail and railing fencing with galvanised stock fence attached to it. Pockets are to be carefully cut into the existing boulders and bedrock to form pockets for new timber posts to be installed in a concrete bed and surround. All arising’s are to be disposed off-site to a licenced tip. Full details of the works are contained in Volumes 1 –4.
