Gwaith Adfer Mawn Hengwm / Hengwm Peatland restoration

Description of the goods or services required
This tender is for the provision of peatland restoration works on Hengwm, Near Aran Fawddwy, Llanymawddwy, Gwynedd. The works involve using low ground pressure excavators to restore the peatland. The restoration work will include re-profiling 5.8km of bare peat haggs. Block and re-profile 2.2km of artificial drains and 2.5km of draining gullies. 1) Relevant experience in this specialist field of work.
2) Ability to deliver the works to specifications.
3) Ability to complete works to set timeline.
4) Public (£5m) and Employer liability (£10m) insurance.
5) Low pressure excavator not exceeding 10 tonnes to make as little damage to surrounding habitats as possible.

These works will provide community benefit through providing ecosystem services to local communities. Benefits include, water retention leading to a reduction in flood risk down stream, biodiversity improvements and preserving peat an important carbon sync and store.
Relates to the following project/programme financed by EU Community Funds: The contract will be financed by Amaethwyr Mawddwy Sustainable Management Scheme (SMS) a catchment area project aiming to improve biodiversity and water quality, delivered by Snowdonia National Park Authority. The project is funded by the Welsh Government’s Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 and the European Union’s European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
