Abstract

Pembrokeshire County Council, on behalf of Cleddau to Coast FLAG (Fisheries Local Action Group) are seeking experienced consultants to undertake a study that will gather data and information, to pave the way for those interested in developing aquaculture within Pembrokeshire. The European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) is administered by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the programme is managed in Wales by the Welsh Government. The Managing Authority EMFF in the United Kingdom is the Marine Management Organisation. The Welsh Government is an “Intermediate Body” with both a delegated EMFF financial allocation and responsibility for selecting approving and paying claims to EMFF projects. A percentage of EMFF has been allocated to the Fishing Local Action Group (FLAG) to implement Community Led Local Development (CLLD). The aims of the EMFF are structured around 6 priorities, each with several specific objectives. All of these are supported by specific measures. 1. Promoting sustainable, resource efficient, innovative, competitive and knowledge based fisheries 2. Fostering sustainable, resource efficient, innovative, competitive and knowledge based aquaculture 3. Fostering the implementation of the CFP 4. Increasing employment and territorial cohesion 5. Fostering marketing and processing 6. Fostering the implementation of the Integrated Maritime Policy. This tender falls under Objective 4, Increasing employment and territorial cohesion aims to increase employment and promote economic growth and social inclusion in coastal and inland communities dependent on fishing. Projects that fall under this priority are community-led local development projects though Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAGs).
