The Provision of DNA Maxwell kits that are specifically designed for use on the Maxwell Instruments for automated extraction. The kits are used for the DNA extraction from various sample types yielding high quality DNA. Through scope of the market and discussion with Genetic professionals within and outside the Health Board, it was concluded that only one supplier is able to offer the extraction chemistry on the Maxwell 16 instrument. The provision of the consumables will provide continuity of the service and continue to support patient care throughout the Health Board.

The procurement falls outside the scope of application of the Directive
Explanation:
The Provision of DNA Maxwell kits are only able to be provided by the Manufacturer of the consumables and through extensive market research and a full scope of the market it was comprehensively concluded by the All-Wales Medical Genomic Service and the procurement department that a VEAT notice could be established. Aligned with UK Procurement regulations and the OJEU tender threshold it was determined that through the extensive scope of the market and consultation with genomic professionals, only one supplier in the European market is able to offer the consumables to the exceptional standard required.
