Treorchy Park & Ride - Construction

Transport for Wales are working with Rhondda Cynon Taf to construct a Park and Ride at Treorchy Station. Works are planned to commence around April 2024 to provide an extension to the existing car park serving the station. A contractor is required to deliver these works to include construction of carriageway, verges, kerbing and footways, installation of fencing, lighting, and drainage works.

The proposed works increases the current parking capacity from 8 unmarked spaces to 52 No. (43 standard, 6 electrical vehicle charging and 3 disabled). Provision will also be made for 3 No. motorcycle parking spaces. Works will include full carriageway construction to replace the existing car park and former railway siding. Resurfacing of the existing highway will also be undertaken to suit the amended profile of the car park access. The proposed car park layout will link into the existing access to the station platform. Drainage works will include the construction of a new network, including the provision of bio retention gardens and storm attenuation tanks to restrict flows, to an existing outfall to the River Rhondda. Existing security gating/fencing to the former railway siding will be relocated to the south-eastern end of the car park to maintain access to the remaining extent of the siding. New street lighting will be provided to current standards. New CCTV systems covering the car park will also be installed. Some small areas of verge will be landscaped.
