Abstract

The SEACAMS 2 project of Centre of Applied Marine Sciences at Bangor University requires processing and analysis software for its hull mounted Simrad EK60 Scientific echo sounder (38 and 120 kHz split beam transducers) and future upward looking echosounder. As part of the SEACAMS 2 research project (working with the marine renewable sector in Wales UK), we are recording echo sounder data in depths of 30 – 100 metres from the RV Prince Madog and from upward looking seabed instruments to study mid-water fauna (large plankton to fish) around the coast of Wales. We often work in areas of high current velocity and turbulence. We are currently seeking software to post-process and quantitatively analyse this data.
