Title
Bwlch y Groes Peat Restoration
|

Description of the goods or services required
Provision of peatland restoration works for Snowdonia National Park Authority (SNPA) on behalf of the Welsh Peatlands Sustainable Management Scheme (SMS) Project. The works will be carried out at Bwlch y Groes, an upland blanket bog site situated to the north of Llanymawddwy (see map below). Restoration of the site will be accomplished by re-profiling peat haggs and blocking or slowing water in gullies using peat baffles.

Total quantity or scope of tender
The Bwlch y Groes site is a 66ha peatland situated on the western edge of the Berwyn a Mynyddoedd De Clwyd Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and Berwyn Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). A network of flat bare peat and 3.7km of peat haggs have formed in association with the draining gullies and along the slopes of the site. It is highly recommended that prospective contractors carry out a site visit prior to submitting a tender.
