Roofing works at Greenhill Rd and Sherbourne Rd

Description of the goods or services required

Bron Afon seek to appoint a suitably skilled and experienced principal contractor to deliver a project to convert flat roofing to pitched roofing on blocks of flats within Bron Afon’s current Housing Stock. This project consists of three blocks of flats located in Sebastopol, Pontypool. These blocks are;

46-56 Sherbourne Road,

103-113 Green Hill Road and

115-123a Greenhill Road

Additional works will be required as part of the project. In summary, the Principal Contractor will be required to deliver (but not limited to;

• Roofing Works - Pitched roofing, including supply and fit of all rainwater goods

• External Works – cladding replacement, crack stitching and expansion joints

• Concrete Works – removal and reinstatement of concrete slab

• Asbestos – removal and management of licensable asbestos

• Gas works – isolation as required and renewal of any flues to fit new roof structure and cladding

• Ground Works – reduce ground level to below DPC

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations. The Community Benefits included in this contract are:

Your organisation commits where possible and appropriate to actively consider the use of or development of local sub-contractors and or local supply chain. For Bron Afon's purposes local is defined as within the NP4 postcode.

1.11.3 Community Benefits Requirement 2

Your organisation commits to actively consider paying the Real Living Wage as defined by the Living Wage Foundation to all staff delivering services to Bron Afon under this contract and within their wider business. More information regarding the Real Living Wage can be found by visiting www.livingwage.org.uk.

1.11.4 Community Benefits Requirement 3

Your organisation commits to pay all suppliers and sub-contractors within agreed timescales, which will not exceed 30 days.

1.11.5 Community Benefits Requirement 4

Your organisation accepts and agrees to make a cash donation to support the Bron Afon Community Grants Fund. The value of the cash donation will be agreed and calculated at pre-start and must as a minimum equal 1.5% of the final contract value.

1.11.6 Additional Community Benefits

In addition to the specific commitments set out above Tendering Organisations are actively encouraged to consider the delivery of Additional Community Benefits for the wider Torfaen County Borough community.

The buyer considers that this contract is suitable for consortia bidding.
