Imagine Colwyn Bay Augmented Reality Heritage Trail and Launch Event

Description of the goods or services required

As part of a scheme of work Imagine Colwyn Bay is seeking to broaden access to local heritage resources and collections through the development of a range of digital immersive experiences which reclaim and retell the narrative of the town. Culminating in a celebratory event which showcases local creativity.

The project vision is to place heritage, culture and creativity at the heart of Colwyn Bay and it’s regeneration. The project is funded until March 21, through the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Great Place Scheme, Conwy County Borough Council, Bay of Colwyn Town Council and the Colwyn Business Improvement District.

Imagine Colwyn Bay is seeking tenders from suitably qualified applicants to deliver the digital creative heritage element of the project. The aim is to develop an Augmented Reality heritage trail co produced by the community which engages a wider audience in learning about the areas past and raises aspirations for the future. Strengthening sense of place and belonging for local people and enhancing visitor experience.

Building on a strong foundation of community knowledge, interest and resources (which include museum and archive collections, oral history and heritage trails) the requirement will be to develop a magical, interactive, immersive experience with storytelling at its heart that takes people on a journey with audio visual and virtual elements. Of equal importance to the production and delivery of the creative output is the process of community-led engagement and learning opportunities that are created.

This contract whilst linking in wider project objectives will specifically focus on:

-Interpreting and reimagining existing heritage provision (trails, etc) using film, animation, sound, VR and AR technology

-Community engagement

-Storytelling and developing a strong narrative

-Linking visual images with recorded soundscapes

-Projections and outdoor screenings

-Supporting, planning and delivery of large-scale spectacular events
