Re-roofing & External Works to 13 Blocks of Flats & 9 Houses in St Dials & Roofline Works at Perthy

Description of the goods or services required

Bron Afon is seeking a suitably experienced Principal Contractor to undertake re-roofing works and external refurbishment works on two separate sites located 1.3 miles apart. Works at the first site is known as St Dials Corner blocks include pitched roofing, flat roofing, replacement of fascia, soffits and rainwater goods and pathway repairs. Works at the second site known as Perthy Close include replacement of the timber roofline goods such as fascia, soffit and rainwater goods.

The properties in St Dials were constructed circa 1950 and were commissioned by Cwmbran Development Corporation to provide social, residential accommodation within Cwmbran. The project consists of 13 corner style blocks of flats and 9 adjoining houses. The Blocks are two storeys in height and are set back off the roadside. The residents of the flats consist mainly of Bron Afon tenants and some leaseholders.

The tender will be awarded to the Most Economically Advantageous Tender.

The contract will be undertaken using the JCT Minor Work Building Contract 2016 including Bron Afon’s standard prelims and amendments.

Under the terms of this contract the successful supplier(s) will be required to deliver Community Benefits in support of the authority’s economic and social objectives. Accordingly, contract performance conditions may relate in particular to social and environmental considerations. The Community Benefits included in this contract are:

Bron Afon is committed to contributing to the social, economic and environmental well-being of the wider community. Consequently Community Benefits clauses will be a mandatory contract clause. Therefore, as a minimum requirement, Tenderers will have to agree that community benefits will become part of the contract and as such, a minimum 1.5% cash donation will be required.

The buyer considers that this contract is suitable for consortia bidding.
