Abstract

Roof refurbishment at Bridgend Stores, Princess of Wales Hospital. The building is a steel framed industrial type storage building with an approximate eaves height of between 6 and 7m. The roof is pitched at 10 degrees and comprises two areas perpendicular to each other, separated by a valley gutter. Two vertical gables are present. The proposed works include: • Scaffold edge protection and work platform to building perimeter; • Removal of external layer of profiled steel cladding panels from the roof covering; • Removal of existing quilt insulation; • Installation of new profiled roof cladding panels; • Installation of new quilt insulation; • Installation of new valley gutter; • Lining of existing gutters with Plygene material; and • Formation of flashings to perimeter of smoke vents
