Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDUHB) is seeking tenders from suppliers of Paediatric Imaging Systems, in search of a new Retina Camera for Neonates.
The principal aim of purchasing this equipment is to improve facilities on the new SCBU (Special Care Baby Unit) that is currently in construction phase as part of the Women and Children’s Phase 2 Project currently underway at Glangwili Hospital. This will enable physician evaluation of paediatric ocular diseases and help ensure appropriate eye care pathways are followed.
The camera will be specific to Neonates and is needed to pick up numerous conditions that a regular camera (as utilised by the general ophthalmology service within the Health Board) does not improving the service with better investigations and diagnosis.
Specific requirements for the retina camera are as follows:
• Portable/compact and lightweight remote imaging system, with desktop console and must have wireless keyboard.
• DICOM Images taken and data can be shared with hospital PACS, EMR, and cloud management systems, retaining security of patient data whilst accessing via the web anytime and anywhere.
• 130 degree wide field lens.
• Single-hand operation ability to capture images quickly.
• A screen built into the hand held device.
• Adjustment of illumination intensity.
• Hand held device can be removed from main docking station to take to the patient.
• Standardisation with equipment with other ophthalmologists in Swansea and UHW would be preferred as medical staff will be working across health boards.
• Easy to use in order to train non-medical staff to operate.
• Training to be provided by supplier.
• Ability to store patient details securely, telemedicine solution must be HIPAA compliant.
• 8 MP image output.
• Joystick for easy selection of focus.
