Abstract

The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre is based near the village of Libanus, on the A470 6 miles west of Brecon The Centre is in need of a replacement boiler running from an LPG gas tank. The existing boiler provided the heating and hot water for the whole centre, which includes café, gift shop, classroom, offices and toilet block. The Centre has recently had solar panels installed, and this is currently feeding the hot water tanks for Centre. This works sufficiently during the summer when the solar PV is at maximum generation, but is unlikely to generate sufficiently during the winter. The existing water tanks are old and poorly insulated. This tender is to supply a boiler to provide sufficient heating for the site, and to back up the hot water provision. We would also like to take this opportunity to replace the existing water tanks with a more efficient alternative. This tender would include all works relating to the design, delivery, installation and commissioning of the system, leaving the centre with a working heating and hot water system. This tender would also include the removal and disposal of the existing infrastructure. As the out going boiler is 25+ years old, and there have been many changes to the site in that time, we would expect any tendering company to complete a thorough site visit, to ensure that any new boiler system meets the demands of the current building. While basic floor plans are provided as part of this tender, we would expect any proposal to be based on this detailed site survey. There is also some urgency to ensure we can heat the Centre in the forthcoming winter, and any tendering company must commit to have this installed by the 31st October 2021. The National Park Visitor Centre is a public facing site open everyday except Christmas day. Any tender must specify how it can deliver this project safely on a live site. Please see attached documents for further details.

Description of the contract

The Brecon Beacons National Park Visitor Centre is based near the village of Libanus, on the A470 6 miles west of Brecon

The Centre is in need of a replacement boiler running from an LPG gas tank.
