Abstract

Swansea Council intends to undertake waterproofing and ancillary works to 36 no. balconies contained in Maesglas Road Flats, Gendros, Swansea. There are six individual blocks that are four storeys high. Each block contains eight flats however the ground floor flats do not have balconies therefore only six residential units requires the work per block. The works is principally providing a waterproof covering on tapered insulation to balcony floor and insulating soffit and over cladding underside and edges clad and capped off with aluminium sheet shaped to suit the edge detail. Additional waterproofing measures includes fitting aluminium sheet capping to the reconstituted parapet copings to reduce water passing into the cavity masonry below and extending lead cavity trays.
