Abstract

Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced providers for the provision of Taxi and Light Goods Transportation Services throughout Carmarthenshire.

The service will support the safe and timely transportation of,

Patients attending healthcare appointments.

NHS staff travelling between healthcare locations.

Medical records and documentation.

Diagnostic specimens.

Blood and blood products.

Medication and controlled drugs.

Other healthcare related goods.

The service must be available twenty-four (24) hours per day, seven (7) days per week, including weekends and bank holidays, and support both routine and urgent transport requirements.

The is procurement will be divided into two geographical lots covering East and West Carmarthenshire, and suppliers are invited to bid for one lot or both lots. The Health Board may appoint more than one provider per lot

to support service resilience and continuity.

The Health Board encourages participation from:

Local taxi operators.

Owner-driver businesses.

Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

Community transport organisations.

The contract will be for an initial twelve (12) month period with the option to extend for a further twelve (12) months.

Tertiary Provider (Rank 3)

Contract requirements will normally be offered to the Primary Provider in the first instance. Where the Primary Provider is unable to accept the booking, does not have sufficient capacity, or cannot meet the required service requirements, the requirement will be offered to the Secondary Provider. If the Secondary Provider is also unable to fulfil the requirement, it will then be offered to the Tertiary Provider.
