Description of the goods or services required
Background:
European Innovation Partnership (EIP) Wales is providing funding to 46 projects across Wales which are trialling innovative techniques and technologies within farming and forestry businesses. There are over 200 farmers and foresters involved in our projects, and each group is also made up of a variety of different people, from advisers, researchers, businesses and NGOs. By bringing people together with different expertise it creates a great opportunity to draw from different experiences, introduce new ideas and use the latest knowledge to tackle problems. The projects cover a wide range of topics from dairy, red meat, horticulture, diversification, forestry, carbon, and diversity.
EIP Wales, which is delivered by Menter a Busnes, has received funding through the Welsh Government Rural Communities - Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
Details of work:
Menter a Busnes are seeking an independent journalist to collect and write the content for three printed publications. The EIP Wales programme will be coming to an end in June 2023 and as a legacy piece to disseminate the main findings from all 46 projects we will be producing three printed publications to be posted to all farming and forestry businesses across Wales. Each project summary will be a maximum of 500 words (English only), a total of 23,000 words in total across the three publications.
The size of the booklet will by A5 (tilt and turn), 30 pages in English, 30 pages in Welsh. The translation into Welsh, designing, printing and posting will be arranged by Menter a Busnes and does not need to be accounted for in the quote. 12,000 copies of each publication will be posted to farmers and foresters across.
Overview of the project results and key take home messages:
We wish for the use of pictures, infographics, graphs/tables and images to be used where possible to ensure the publications are attractive and provide key results and best practice guidance in a concise and accessible format. A QR code will be included for each project to encourage farmers to access further information (final reports, fact sheets, videos etc.) available online on the EIP Wales webpages on the Farming Connect Website. Alongside the project results summary, we would like farmer case studies and ‘how to’ guides to be used where applicable, either within the publications, or hosted on the website and linked via QR code.
The majority of the information required for the publications will be on the EIP webpages on the Farming Connect website in the form of reports, articles, factsheets etc. the work is likely to require some additional content collection through phone calls, emails and farm visits if required. The publication will be aimed at a farmer audience, and will need to be written on this basis highlighting how the findings could benefit their business.
Timeline for content:
1st publication – 1 December 2022
2nd publication – 1 February 2022
3rd publication – 3 April 2022
