Description of the goods or services required

Conwy County Borough Council wish to appoint a Principal Contractor to construct a new retaining wall in accordance with the Works information attached to this advert.

Pont Llanfihangel, Conwy County, retaining Wall has been assessed as a sub-standard structure after failure of a section of wall. The drystone section of the retaining wall adjacent to the Grade II listed Pont Llanfihangel is to be replaced.

Summary of the Works

Pont Llanfihangel, Retaining Wall has been assessed as a sub-standard structure after failure of a section of wall. The drystone section of the retaining wall adjacent to the Grade II listed Pont Llanfihangel is to be replaced.

The project includes the following scope of works:-

- Demolition of the mortared masonry parapet

- Excavation and removal of carriageway

- Removal of highway drainage

- Excavation and removal of fill behind retaining wall

- Demolition of the drystone retaining wall

- Recovery of masonry from collapsed section of retaining wall

- Installation of highway and structure drainage

- Construction of mass fill concrete retaining wall

- Construction of mortared masonry facing to retaining wall

- Construction of mortared masonry parapet

- Reinstatement of carriageway and road markings

The works are classed as urgent works and the contractor shall provide a suitable programme that shows completion of the permanent works within the contract periods identified in Contract Data.
