Description of the goods or services required
Newcastle Higher Community Council (NHCC) invites suitably qualified contractors to tender for a three-year grounds maintenance contract relating to Aberkenfig Woodland and Aberkenfig Square.
The contract is intended to support the Council’s continued stewardship and enhancement of these valued community assets through the delivery of a consistent, safe, environmentally conscious and high-quality maintenance service.
Any agreement arising from this tender will be in the form of a formal contract between NHCC and the successful contractor.
You are invited to tender for provision of these services.
NHCC is a community council operating within Bridgend County Borough covering the communities of Aberkenfig and Pen-y-Fai.
Aberkenfig Woodland is a well-used community woodland and green space regularly used for walking, informal recreation and community enjoyment. The site contains woodland paths, planted areas, biodiversity features and community infrastructure.
Aberkenfig Square is a prominent public space within the village and forms part of the wider public realm and environmental presentation of the area.
Since 2024, significant enhancement and improvement works have been undertaken across both sites through grant funding, council investment and community partnership activity. These works have included biodiversity improvements, environmental enhancements, access improvements and installation of community assets and infrastructure.
The Council therefore seeks a contractor who will help maintain, protect and enhance these spaces throughout the duration of the contract.
NHCC recognises the importance of balancing accessibility, public safety and environmental management with the protection and enhancement of biodiversity and the natural character of the woodland environment.
